VitaKitty Cat Treats

About a month ago I began a quest to improve the crap I was eating.  This new diet focuses on organic, unprocessed, raw foods.  Since moving to Boston a year ago from Atlanta, I've grown accustomed to frequenting Stop & Shop and Shaw's for all my sustenance needs.  However, when I decided I wanted to eat healthier, I deemed it necessary to go to Whole Foods to get this awesome new food.

After wandering around the foreign (to me) Whole Foods for over an hour just to find everything I needed, I came across the pet section.  Since I wanted to eat better, I developed an urge to force my new beliefs on my catty.  So I got him some VitaKitty cat treats.  Essentially chicken breast jerky, these cat treats are made from happy, free-roaming chickens that have no added hormones or antibiotics or any other crap like that.  I was so excited to plop a few of these treats down in front of Rasputin!

Upon do so, a weird thing happened.  My catty didn't eat the treats.  He lazily stared at them from his cat bed, and then started batting them around.  Assuming he was being a moron and just didn't understand what was going on, I shoved a few in his face so he could smell the chickeness.  He didn't seem interested.  So I grabbed a clean one and started gnawing on it myself.  I had such high hopes for these cat treats!!  Sadly, they tasted like hard plastic with a slight hint of chicken flavoring.  Maybe they taste different for cats, and my cat was just one of the few that didn't find the taste appetizing...He also doesn't like cat nip, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

Luckily my mom is coming up for a visit in a few weeks, so she can bring these cat treats home to try out on her cats.  >^..^<

Leather Tag Winner Announced!

I'm delighted to announce the winner of the "Not all those who wander are lost." tag this morning.  I *loved* reading everyone's quotes!  It was so much fun...for me anyway. :)

The winner of the tag is....

Remember Your Travels

The ID-sized leather tags are my absolute favorite to make.  I think it's because they are so subtle and cute. ><  I've just added a new listing to the shop for 8 ID-sized leather tags.  This joins the set of 2 ID tags and the set of 10 ID tags.

I think it would be so neat to have a little tag hanging off your travel bag for every place you've visited.  Well, perhaps only the interesting places you've been, as you don't want a mountain of tags weighing down your bag....or maybe you do.

Also, today is the *last* day to enter the Give Away for the "Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost" leather tag.  I shall be drawing the winner (via random.org) at the stroke of midnight tonight! (If I can keep my sleepy self up that late...).  If you haven't already, feel free to mosey over, leave a comment with your favorite Lord of the Rings quote, and hopefully win yourself a free tag. :)

More Ribbon! Eeeee!

I'd really like to post everyday, but it seems like a few times a week is all I can muster as of late. This post is short - I shall simply share a few photos of some new ribbon I got in.  Pretty ribbon gives me a happy face. :)  The colors I got this time are very similar to the last order I received.  I still haven't been able to narrow down one color that is my shop, so, once again, I just got an assortment of my favorite blues.  As of right now I'm leaning more towards the top turquoise ribbon.  [Simply riveting stuff, I know!]

Also, don't forget to enter the Give Away I'm hosting where the winner receives the tag below.  It's super easy to enter and runs through July 28th.  Click here to read about it.

Mr. H. Potter, Cupboard Under the Stairs

During my fit of excitement over Harry Freaking Potter last week, I forgot to include a few accompanying images. Ahhh!  Oh well.  Here they are - a recent custom tag featuring Harry Potter's address whilst living with the Dursley's (and personalized initials along the end).

I am beyond annoyed at forgetting to include this in the Harry Potter post.  It was all going to tie in together so nicely...IT FOLLOWED A THEME FOR EFF'S SAKE!!!!  [Freakout concluded.]

Origami Friends Overlooking 27th Avenue

Last month my boyfriend and I ventured from Boston to NYC for the annual OrigamiUSA convention.  While he was off doing his thang I stayed in our room working, or went wandering around the city.  At the end of each day, after he'd finished the workshops for the day,  my boyfriend would present me with a pile of all the new origami models he learned that day.  While I myself am not as obsessed with origami like he is, I absolutely adore looking at the models once he's completed them.  Below are a few photos of the origami he made during this year's convention that were photographed in our dorm room at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) - our sparse, albeit super convenient, accommodations during the trip.

 Frawg!

My favorite model he learned at this year's convention, a Nazgûl!

 Japanese crane.

The cute lil' mouse is just trying to peer out. :)

This whale did not want to sit all happy-like on the window sill like the others...

Our apartment is overflowing with origami.  Stuffed into drawers, covering bookcases,  hiding under tables...origami can be found all over the place, especially when Catty gets his paws on it.  I wish we had an awesome/easy/cheap way to display it all.

Get Your Map On!

The idea of utilizing longitude and latitude to custom an item isn't new, but it is still pretty neat!  Remember the exact location of something special by customizing a leather tag with map coordinates.  These tags can then hang on your honeymoon luggage, diaper bag, sports bag, etc. to remind you of that special place. Awww!  ><

I can stamp whatever you want on the tag (as long as it fits).

  A subtle love note. <3

 Celebrate your third anniversary (leather!)...

When I get the time, I'm going to make one of these for myself and put my boyfriend's name at the top with the coordinates of the real place we first met (as we found each other online).

Use a larger font and include an inspiring quote!

Since I started implementing this layout a few months ago, I am happy to say I am really having a lot of fun with it.  It's neat to see all the places that people hold dear.

Totally unrelated note:

Don't forget to enter the Give-Away that started yesterday!

To celebrate reaching 2,000 sales on Etsy, I am hosting a Give-Away. The item up for grabs is the tag shown below.

To enter, simply leave a comment stating your *favorite* Lord of the Rings movie quote.

After commenting with your favorite LotR movie quote, for 2 additional entries, you can:

->"LIKE" Of The Fountain on Facebook

(Leave a new comment for each additional entry.)

For example:

First Comment:

FINE PRINT:  While I encourage awesome LotR quotes, a crappy one will also suffice.  The only rule is that the quote must be an actual quote from any of the 3 films in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  Comments that do not follow this rule will be deleted.

Hint: The quote above is not in the movies.

I will use a random number generator to determine the winner (that will then be contacted via the email provided for the comment).

The Give-Away will run through July 28, 2011, and I will do a post announcing the winner July 29th.

Until the Very End

This past Friday I saw the final Harry Potter movie. Yeah, it was awesome. And sad. :(   I saw the film in I-Max 3D, and I must say that it was totally worth the $17.50 ticket price.

I was lucky enough to find an awesome shirt on Etsy to wear to the premiere. Our particular show time was sponsored by Entertainment Weekly, so everyone at the 7:00pm show got a free Harry Potter issue of Entertainment Weekly.  That was pretty sweet.

Everyone waiting in line at the theatre received this.

Anyone read Regretsy on Friday (7/15)?  Yeah. It was...lovely!!

Eeee! Ron is my absolute favorite. (Sirius is second.)

Tag-sized Key Chain Added to The Shop

I don't know why I assumed that people preferred cute little key chains/key fob things.  I've had a few requests recently to create a key chain out of my leather luggage tags, so I have now added the 'large tag key chain' to the Of The Fountain shop.  I can stamp it horizontally or vertically with whatever you want, as long as it fits.

This key chain is twice as large as the regular key chains found in the shop.

Booberries!

I felt oddly compelled to photograph my 'late afternoon snack' (the small meal that follows 'after lunch snack' and precedes 'first dinner').

New Ready-To-Ship Items in the Shoppe

Yesterday was a productive day.  I spent *hours* (like 6, is that sad?) revamping the blog.  Hopefully it was for the better. I also added some ready-made tags and key chains to the shoppe.  These items are in stock and ship within 1 business day.  I hope to add tons more ready-made things in the next few weeks. :)
