Peru - Lake Titicaca - Day 5

I've been such a slacker when it comes to making posts for this blog.  I'll get really pumped and write 7 posts in a row (and schedule them out to fill up a week), and then I'll get all busy and not post anything for a while.  Well, here is the last batch of photos from our August trip to Peru.  It was the last good day of the trip.  The days that followed our time in Lake Titicaca were rife with stress and the fear of being killed out in the middle of nowhere.  Needless to say, all went well*ish and we made it safely home.  :)

So there it is. Our last "real" day in Peru that we went out and explored.  On the day that we were to fly home, we had an 18 hour layover in Peru before we boarded a flight to Florida.  After spending all day (3 meals)  in the Lima airport in Peru, and then an 8 hour overnight flight to Florida, we arrived in the good ole' US of A to find that our final flight home to Boston had been cancelled due to hurricane Irene.  It would be another 6 days before we finally got home and were able to sleep in our own bed again.  Perhaps it is because getting home from this trip was such a hassel, that I am now a little apprehensive about doing any major traveling.  Hopefully time will heal my wounded traveling spirit. :)

Tags With Rhinestones

I love using rhinestones.  It is not everyday that I get the opportunity to implement rhinestones in a luggage tag design, so this particular set was a treat.  This set features a name and a quote, with a rhinestone attached between the two different elements.

Keep Calm and Travel On

As someone that has been browsing Etsy everyday for the past 2 years, I am quite familiar with all the "Keep Calm & Carry On" items (and their spin-offs) that have became oh-so-popular.  I never thought much of it.  Then I received an order for a tag featuring a variation of the quote, "Keep Calm & Travel On."  I have never thought of using the quotes on my tags, but I think it really works nicely!

Get Your Map On! Part 2.

A few months ago I introduced the custom map coordinates leather tag.  Now, I am pleased to have a dedicated listing for a set of custom map coordinates tags.  Get a tag for yourself and for your significant other.  Or, perhaps a tag for you and a sibling, commemorating a fun place you spent time as a child.  Or maybe even a set for you and a parent to remember your childhood home. :)

Peru - Machu Picchu- Day 4

During my recent trip to Peru, we went to Machu Picchu.  Actually, the whole trip was inspired by The Motorcycle Diaries (Los Diarios de Motocicleta), a movie that takes place in South America and in which the main characters visit Machu Picchu.  Here was our visit. :)

So, Machu Picchu was pretty neat.  I thought we wouldn't spend that much time here, because hey, how long does it really take to look at stuff?  But in fact, we were here for at least 2 hours, exploring every nook and cranny. We didn't take a guide, so we just wandered around on our own, wondering what the meaning of certain structures were.  You know, being ignorant tourists.  It was good, though.  I got a lot of nice "ring shots." :)

Vertical Tags with Bling Blang

While I've offered horizontal tags with rhinestones for quite a while, I have finally *just* added vertical tags with rhinestones to the shop.  Totally customizable, I can stamp whateva you want on these guys.  I've considered buying more rhinestones in different colors, but I just love how the bright blue contrasts with the tan leather.  Also, I am not sure if other colors (red, green, pink, purple) would work as nicely. Since I love the blue rhinestone so much, I am considering getting it in different sizes.  A small/tiny blue rhinestone in the corner could add a subtle hint of bling, but not be too "rhinestone-y".

Quirky Cake Toppers

As I mentioned before, my upcoming wedding really doesn't have a theme.  I have found it be pretty awesome in that there are no limits to anything we want to incorporate into the big event.  Lately, I've been looking at cake toppers (even though I'm not sure if we even need one).  At first I thought the idea of having animals instead of people on top of a wedding cake was...silly.  But now I am in love with the idea. Human/animal combos are cool, too. :)

My better half has a particular fondness for octopi and squid, and I thought a cake topper would be a fun way to incorporate sea creatures into the wedding.  For the items below that are only one figure, I would just buy two and stick them next to each other on top of the cake.
